Restoration Since 2022

A Farm Becoming a Forest, One Year at a Time

Green Hill Wildlife Tours began its forest restoration work in 2022 on land that had previously been cleared for farming. Located in Bijagua de Upala — a biological corridor connecting the dry forests of Guanacaste with the rainforests of the Caribbean slope — this property sits in one of Costa Rica's most species-rich transition zones. The work of planting, protecting, and monitoring native trees is ongoing, and every visitor helps fund that mission directly.

Active Forest Restoration

Native tree planting and forest recovery have been underway since 2022, steadily rebuilding habitat for sloths, tapirs, toucans, and hundreds of other species on formerly cleared farmland.

A Living Classroom

Guides share the restoration story in the field — pointing out pioneer species, returning wildlife, and the ecological processes that make Bijagua's landscape so biologically rich.
